Meitheal

Our Meitheal Team is a group of Fifth Year students who when in Transition Year apply for places on the leadership training course offered by the Scala, a Redemptorist initiative at Bessboro in Blackrock. Following tough interviews, seven or eight students are selected for the team and are trained to be our Meitheal for the following year. One of their main tasks is to help First Year students feel welcome and integrate quickly. The team works under the direction of a mentor teacher.

Student Council

The St. Als Student Council encourages students from all years to get involved in school life. Previous Councils have worked on uniform development, the famous Christmas Concert, Fun days and fundraising. They also respond to requests for student feedback by completing surveys. The Head Girl and the mentor teacher are important links between Student Council and school management.

170th. Anniversary of St. Aloysius School

St. Aloysius School started its celebration of 160 years of involvement in education with an end of term concert in the Hall on Friday 26th March 2009. The 10 year Time-Capsule, organised by the L.C.V.P. students, was on display in the Hall. All students in the school had a chance to put their contributions into it. The celebrations extended into the next term and to the end of 1999. As this year, 2009, marks the 170th Anniversary of the founding of the school the opening of the 10 Year Time Capsule will be one of the celebratory events.
